It’s spring time – the trees are blossoming, Germans all have a broad smile on their faces and… the cruise line ships are on again! Several majestic cruise liners, starting from Hamburg or Warnemünde, are taking their way up North-East to Tallinn, St. Petersburg and Helsinki, exploring the most beautiful cities on the Baltic Sea.
And every year the cp berlin team gets calls like this: “We are in the harbour of Berlin, Warnemünde, and would like to take an excursion to the city.” That’s great, folks but – Warnemünde-Berlin is a 4 hours drive (with one pause), so you can either do a hardcore 4 hours drive – 4 hours sightseeing and then 4 hours drive back (which is possible) – or take our advice. Start in Berlin, take a day of discovery with our excellent tour guides and then let them take you up to Warnemünde, where your ship is leaving.
Should you already be on your way because your ship left from Hamburg or would you like to have a nice excursion to discover an unknown Jewel of the Baltic Sea, then we would like to invite you to the city of Lübeck. The fascinating home town of famous writer Thomas Mann, set for one of his most famous books, The Buddenbrooks, is an unknown beauty to most Baltic Sea travelers. The wealth of the medieval times, when Lübeck was one of the mightiest trading cities in Europe and leading member of the Hanseatic League, is still palpable today. Lübeck’s old city is UNESCO world heritage and offers beautiful little sneaking ways through fairy-tale-like courtyards.
If you want to explore more of the city’s delicacies, we can offer you tours and / or workshops to the world of Lübeck’s “white gold”, marzipan (almond paste). Some of its production is still handmade like in the old times and you will get a good understanding for the quality and possibilities marzipan offers you. Have fun with shaping roses and marzipan-nodded-bread and enjoy your coffee workshop afterwards – may it be the sweet-bitterness of the almond paste, that goes along, but Lübeck is also a coffee city and in our coffee tasting you will get the full variety of flavour the brown and black beans can give you.
Our cp berlin team is looking forward to your requests and to making your Baltic Sea cruise a memorable one already from the start!
